    2026 City Kayak Lake Cleanups (Townsend & Brandt)

    **Advance registration is required by noon the day before each cleanup.**
  • Enjoy an evening kayaking while helping to keep our lake clean and preserve its natural beauty. The City's Parks & Recreation Department has agreed to waive the rental fees due to the cleanup.

    A limited number of kayaks are available for each date. Early registration is encouraged. Transportation to and from events is not provided.

    Kayak cleanups for 2026 will be held at either at Lake Townsend or Lake Brandt.

    Anyone who submits a form should be aware that in accordance with the North Carolina Public Records law, found in North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 132, their e-mail address is considered public record.

  • All participants must:

    - Be at least 10 years of age.

    - Have prior kayaking experience and be able to demonstrate proper kayaking etiquette.

    - Fill out a waiver to participate. Participants under 18 must have their guardian complete the waiver prior to arrival.

    - Properly wear their personal flotation device (PFD) at all times.

    Any participant under 16:

    - Must be supervised at all times during the event by a parent, guardian, or responsible adult.
